About the Role:
We are seeking a skilled and experienced PostgreSQL Database Administrator to join our growing team. You will be responsible for the installation, configuration, optimization, security, and maintenance of our mission-critical PostgreSQL databases. You will work closely with developers, application owners, and other IT staff to ensure the smooth operation and high availability of our data infrastructure.
Responsibilities:
- Install, configure, and manage PostgreSQL databases on various platforms (on-premises, cloud-based)
- Perform regular database backups and implement disaster recovery plans
- Monitor database performance and identify and resolve performance bottlenecks
- Optimize database queries and indexes for improved performance
- Implement and maintain robust database security measures
- Manage user access and permissions
- Automate routine database tasks
- Troubleshoot and resolve database issues
- Stay up-to-date on the latest PostgreSQL technologies and best practices
- Work collaboratively with developers, application owners, and other IT staff
- Document database procedures and processes
Qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience as a PostgreSQL Database Administrator
- Expert knowledge of PostgreSQL query language (SQL) and administration tools
- Strong understanding of database optimization techniques
- Experience with database security best practices
- Experience with scripting languages (Bash, Python, etc.) is a plus
- Good practical experience in AWS
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Detail-oriented and highly organized
