Momseze Launches Mobile App That Connects Nursing Moms with Lactation Consultants Anytime, From Anywhere via Video, Chat or Voice

SAN FRANCISCO, July 25, 2017 /PRNewswire/ — More than 80 percent of new moms in the US say they intend to breastfeed for at least six months, but the majority fail to do so because of lack of clinical and social support. As a result, new moms struggling with breastfeeding start their journey into new motherhood exhausted, with self-doubt, and can experience postpartum depression, guilt, and feelings of inadequacy. A new mobile app called Momseze launching today wants to help change this.

Momseze is a new telehealth service that enables parents to connect immediately on-demand via video chat, text or voice with lactation consultants and other new baby support specialists 24/7, 365 days a year. Users simply launch the Momseze app (available for download on an iPhone in iTunes or an Android in Google Play) and press “Connect Now” to immediately talk with a lactation consultant via video chat, voice only or text, directly through the app, on their phone or tablet.

“More than four million babies are born in this country each year, and even though the vast majority of these babies’ mothers start out wanting to breastfeed, a huge number of them fail — perhaps partly because there are only 3.5 certified lactation consultants per 1000 live births,” explains Momseze Co-Founder Shana Lawlor. “Also, there are many barriers to new moms receiving support when they need it most – which is often in the middle of the night in a suddenly urgent and stressful situation. That’s exactly what we set out to help solve for new parents.”

While Momseze is currently focusing on lactation support, the company plans to expand into other new parent services soon including sleep specialists, nutrition counseling and postpartum depression support. Already Momseze’s platform includes highly trained certified lactation consultants, some of which are also registered nurses (NICU, labor and delivery, ED, pediatric), in-hospital lactation consultants, doulas, register dieticians and perinatal educators.

Momseze is available as either a pay-as-you-go or appointment-based service with visits starting at $39.99 for a 25-minute session, $59.99 for 50 minutes, $129 for a one-month subscription, which includes unlimited visits, or $249 for a 3-month subscription, which also includes unlimited visits.
